The expansion project will allow for more prayer space, produce classrooms to be used for Quran lessons, Sunday school and summer school and will include the development of a much needed library and information centre. To finish the expansion project we have yet to raise $800,000. Project update 14th Aug, 2009
- The MCE has formed a construction committee that was open for every one to join. The construction committee was in charge of selecting the contractor and following up with construction. The construction committee has about 9 members and has sub committee to tackle different tasks.
- The construction committee has divided the project into three stages. The first stage is to build up the building and complete it from out side. The second stage is inside renovation including electrical and mechanical works. The last stage is renovation of the existing building.
- The total cost of the first stage is ~ $500,000
- The total cost of the other two stages is ~ $800,000
- After a very through process, the construction committee has selected a contractor for the first stage, and construction has started.
- Excavation was complete last week and concrete was poured
- The plan insha Allah is to finish this first stage by the end of October

Alhamdulilah, The Muslim Community of Edmonton Mosque (MCE) has received the development permit to expand the mosque by adding an extension building to be connected to the existing one. The new facility will give the mosque more space for over flow especially during Friday prayers and Ramadan, and will also have classrooms for the MCE schools (Qura’an school, Sunday school, and summer school). The classrooms will accommodate the increasing number of students and will offer a better educational environment. The future expansion will also have a library and information centre.
